n8n Social Media Automation: Turn Blog Posts into LinkedIn and X Posts

This n8n workflow watches your blog's RSS feed, reads each new article, and uses an AI chat model to write a LinkedIn post and an X post in your voice using only facts from the article. Both drafts are emailed to you with Approve and Decline buttons, and they are published to LinkedIn and X only after you approve.

What this workflow does

Writing a good blog post takes hours, and then it often gets a single share or none at all. Turning each article into platform-specific posts is the obvious fix, but it is the job that slips when the week gets busy. Generic auto-posting tools that share a headline and link do not help much, because LinkedIn and X reward posts that make a point in their own right.

This template is for small business owners, consultants, agencies and in-house marketers who publish regularly and want every article promoted without retyping it. The AI writes from the article text and your past posts, so the drafts sound like you. The approval email keeps you in control of anything that goes out under your name.

Who it's for

  • →Consultants and professional services firms that publish articles to win work on LinkedIn
  • →Small marketing teams that want each blog post promoted without writing extra copy
  • →Agencies running content programs for clients who approve posts by email
  • →Founders who write their own blog and want a consistent social presence

How it works, step by step

  1. 1

    Detect a new blog post

The RSS Feed Trigger polls your blog's feed and starts the workflow for each new item, passing the title, link and summary snippet.

  2. 2

    Fetch the article page

An HTTP Request node downloads the full article page as HTML, because most feeds only include a short excerpt.

  3. 3

    Extract the article text

The HTML node pulls the text inside the article element and cleans up whitespace. Change the CSS selector if your theme wraps the body differently.

  4. 4

    Write the social posts

A Basic LLM Chain with an OpenAI or Anthropic chat model writes a LinkedIn post and a shorter X post, following your voice examples and only using facts stated in the article.

  5. 5

    Return clean fields

A Structured Output Parser makes the model return the LinkedIn post and X post as two separate fields, ready to drop into the email and publishing nodes.

  6. 6

    Email the drafts for approval

Gmail's send-and-wait operation emails both drafts with Approve and Decline buttons. The execution pauses until you click one.

  7. 7

    Check the decision

An If node reads the approval result. Declined drafts go to a No Operation node and nothing is published.

  8. 8

    Publish to LinkedIn and X

Approved drafts are posted to your LinkedIn profile as an article share with the blog link, and to X with the link appended to the post.

What you need

Blog with an RSS feed

WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Squarespace and most blog platforms publish one. WordPress feeds usually live at /feed.

OpenAI or Anthropic API key

Used by the chat model node to write both posts.

Gmail account

Connected through OAuth2 to send the approval email. Outlook or Slack send-and-wait work the same way if you prefer.

LinkedIn developer app

An app with the Share on LinkedIn and Sign In with LinkedIn using OpenID Connect products for personal posts. Posting to a company page needs Community Management API access.

X developer account

A project and app with read and write permissions and an OAuth2 credential in n8n. Check X's current API access tiers and posting limits.

Set it up in n8n

  1. 1

Import the workflow JSON into n8n and read the Setup Instructions sticky note.

  2. 2

In New Blog Post, replace the sample feed URL with your blog's RSS feed. It checks the feed hourly by default.

  3. 3

Open one of your articles in a browser, inspect the body and update the CSS selector in Extract Article Text if it is not an article element.

  4. 4

Paste two or three of your own past LinkedIn posts into the system message in Write Social Posts as voice examples.

  5. 5

Add your API key to the OpenAI Chat Model, or swap it for an Anthropic Chat Model connected to the same chain.

  6. 6

Connect Gmail in Email for Approval and replace the placeholder approver address with yours.

  7. 7

Connect LinkedIn and select your profile in Publish to LinkedIn, then connect your X credential in Publish to X.

  8. 8

Disable both publish nodes, run a test on your latest post, check the email, then re-enable them and activate the workflow.

Ways to customise it

  • +Add Facebook, Threads or Bluesky publishing on the approved branch.
  • +Replace direct publishing with Buffer or a similar scheduler so approved posts go out at your best times.
  • +Use a custom form response in the approval email so you can edit the text or ask the AI for a rewrite.
  • +Log every draft, decision and post link to Google Sheets to track which articles were shared.
  • +Generate an image for each post with an image model and attach it to the LinkedIn share.

For Australian businesses

Social posts that describe your products or services are covered by the Australian Consumer Law, so they must not be misleading or deceptive. That is why the prompt tells the model to use only facts from the article and why every post is approved first. Businesses can also be held responsible for misleading content on their own social pages, as the Federal Court found in ACCC v Allergy Pathway (2011), so keep an eye on comments too. If posts include testimonials or results, they need to be genuine. The approval emails are internal, so the Spam Act 2003 rules for commercial messages are not triggered. The workflow timezone is Australia/Sydney; posts go out when you approve, so approve during business hours in your audience's timezone, and remember Queensland and Western Australia do not observe daylight saving.

Frequently asked questions

Can n8n post to LinkedIn and X automatically?

Yes. n8n has built-in LinkedIn and X (Twitter) nodes that create posts once you connect OAuth2 credentials. This template adds an email approval step before either node runs, so nothing is published without your sign-off.

Why does the workflow only get a short excerpt of my post?

Many feeds only include a summary, which is why the workflow fetches the full page. If the AI still sees little text, the CSS selector in Extract Article Text does not match your theme. Inspect the page and use the selector that wraps the article body.

Can I post to a LinkedIn company page instead of my profile?

Yes. Set Post As to Organisation in the LinkedIn node and select the page. Your LinkedIn app needs Community Management API access, and you connect it with n8n's LinkedIn Community Management credential.

How do I stop the AI making things up?

The prompt limits the model to facts stated in the article and bans invented statistics or customer stories. Voice examples help tone, and the approval email is the final check. Decline any draft that adds claims the article does not make.

Will it repost old articles when I activate it?

The RSS Feed Trigger tracks the newest item it has seen and only starts the workflow for items published after that. Test with a manual run first so you know what the first execution will pick up.
